My grandmother spent 5 months at Oakwood and I truly loved it there for her. It’s such a hidden gem. The facility is very clean and kept up with. You will often see maintenance consistently working on projects or updating things. Her room was often cleaned and taken care of.
The staff is very friendly and kind. They were always welcoming and learned our names. They paid close attention to my grandmother and learned her behaviors. They were also very patient with her. Constance, the head nurse, was great to work with. The nurses and assistants were on top of everything. Nochum, the director, was helpful and listened to me when I needed assistance.
The facility offers a variety of activities throughout the day for residents to participate in. Unfortunately, my grandmother never had the drive to be a part of them. The live music was excellent! They do movies, games, exercise, and even trips. Joanne in the hair salon is wonderful! Super friendly and a great person.
The only reason we left was because it was not a great fit for my grandmother. She needs more care than what she was getting.
Highly recommend for those who need some assistance with daily living but also have the will and drive to live, function, and socialize with others!
